I have always appreciated the phrase "inaugurated eschatology". Heaven and the Kingdom of God can be considered to be synonymous in the sense that we bring the future into the present whenever we give a drink to the thirsty or meal to the hungry etc. Heaven and earth intersect at the cross and we bring a slice of heaven into this world when we love as Jesus loves.
